Backorder Policy
At Thumb Screw Depot, we strive to deliver high-quality thumbscrews with efficient turnaround times. When items are out of stock, we offer the option to backorder. Please review the following policy that applies to all backordered items.
Non-Cancellable & Non-Refundable (NCNR)
All backorders are designated NCNR — Non-Cancellable and Non-Refundable.
Because each backordered item is built to order, your order is entered into our production schedule as soon as payment is received. We immediately begin marking materials, ordering components, and preparing your items for manufacturing. This process allows us to maintain competitive pricing while minimizing waste.
As a result, all sales on backordered items are final. We are unable to accept cancellations or issue refunds once an order has been placed and paid, except in very limited circumstances.
Limited Cancellation Exception
If an ordering error occurs (on our end or yours), you may contact us within 30 minutes of placing the order to request cancellation. Any approved cancellation will be refunded, less any non-refundable processing fees we incur (such as payment gateway charges).
After the 30-minute window, no cancellations or refunds can be accommodated.
Split Shipments
At our discretion, we may split-ship your order when it is cost-effective and beneficial to do so. This means we may ship any in-stock items immediately while shipping the backordered portion as soon as it becomes available.
We may choose to split ship for several reasons, including:
- The order would require multiple boxes regardless of timing
- There is an expected long delay on the backordered items, and we want to get as much product into your hands as quickly as possible
You are also welcome to request split shipping by phone or email. If there is no additional cost to us, we are happy to accommodate your request in most cases. Where additional shipping costs would apply (for example, separate expedited shipping on the backordered portion), we will provide a quote for your approval.
We understand that project timelines can be urgent. In such cases, you may prefer to receive in-stock items via ground shipping right away and request faster shipping (such as next-day air) on the backordered items once they are ready. We are flexible and will work with you to help meet your deadlines whenever possible.
Please note: Unless a split shipment is arranged, all orders will ship complete by default.
Why This Policy Exists
By keeping backordered items NCNR, we can efficiently manage our production line and avoid waste. This helps us control costs and continue offering a wide selection of thumbscrews at the best possible prices.
Backordered items are often less common sizes, colors, or knob combinations that we do not normally stock. Because these are custom or low-demand configurations, we do not want to build items that may not be easily saleable. Doing so would increase costs for all customers.
Backordered items can often take days to weeks to produce. We cannot risk a cancellation during production, which would leave us with the full cost of your order plus the need to store the finished inventory. Since these are often uncommon combinations, it could take months or even years to sell this stock. These added production and storage costs would ultimately be passed on to all customers.
